Terms and Conditions
By authorizing work, the Customer agrees to the following Terms and Conditions.
1. Authorization to Perform Services
The Customer authorizes Clovis Computer Repair (“Company”) to perform diagnostic, repair, installation, maintenance, data recovery, software, hardware, and related services on the device(s) listed on the work order.
The Customer confirms they are the legal owner of the equipment or have authorization from the owner to approve repairs.

2. No Guarantee of Repair
While every effort will be made to successfully diagnose and repair the device, no guarantee is made that any repair will be successful.
Some devices may be beyond economical repair or may contain hidden defects that cannot be discovered until repairs begin.
Diagnostic results are based on the condition of the device at the time of inspection.

3. Data Backup Responsibility
The Customer understands that all repairs carry an inherent risk of data loss.
The Company strongly recommends that the Customer create a complete backup of all important files before leaving the device for service.
The Company is not responsible for:
* Loss of files
* Loss of photographs
* Loss of videos
* Loss of emails
* Loss of software
* Loss of licenses
* Loss of passwords
* Loss of personal or business records
* Corrupted operating systems
* Corrupted applications
* Data corruption
* Data inaccessibility
* Partial or complete data loss
The Customer accepts full responsibility for backing up all important information prior to service.

4. Existing Device Condition
Electronic devices may already have existing defects that are not immediately visible.
Repairs may expose previously hidden failures including but not limited to:
* failing hard drives
* weak SSDs
* failing RAM
* motherboard defects
* power issues
* liquid damage
* corrosion
* overheating
* damaged connectors
* failing graphics chips
* failing batteries
The Company shall not be liable if additional failures become apparent during or after repair due to the existing condition of the device.

5. Hardware Risks
Certain repairs require disassembly of delicate electronic components.
Despite the use of industry-standard procedures, there is always a possibility that additional hardware failures may occur due to:
* age
* previous repairs
* corrosion
* liquid damage
* manufacturer defects
* weakened plastics
* worn connectors
* hidden internal damage
The Customer accepts these inherent risks.

6. Software Risks
Software repairs may require:
* reinstalling Windows
* reinstalling macOS
* reinstalling Linux
* updating drivers
* reinstalling applications
* modifying system settings
* removing malware
* repairing corrupted operating systems
These procedures may change system behavior, remove settings, require programs to be reactivated, or require software to be reinstalled.
The Company is not responsible for software compatibility issues that occur after repair.

7. Operating System Updates
The Company may install software updates, firmware updates, BIOS updates, driver updates, or operating system updates when reasonably necessary to complete a repair.
The Customer understands that updates may:
* change system settings
* remove unsupported software
* disable outdated drivers
* require software activation
* affect hardware compatibility
* change user interface features
* affect third-party applications
The Company shall not be responsible for changes caused by manufacturer or software developer updates.

8. Manufacturer Restrictions
Some manufacturers restrict repairs through hardware pairing, security features, firmware locks, encryption, or proprietary components.
The Company is not responsible if these restrictions prevent a successful repair.

9. Customer Passwords
The Customer agrees to provide passwords, PINs, encryption keys, or account credentials when necessary for testing or repair.
If passwords are not provided, certain functions may not be testable.
The Company is not responsible for untested functions that require unavailable credentials.

10. Data Recovery
Data recovery is performed on a best-effort basis.
No guarantee is made regarding:
* recoverable files
* file integrity
* folder structure
* file names
* recovered quantity
* recovered quality
Storage devices may permanently fail during the recovery process due to their existing condition. OOnce the data recovery process is complete, any storage device used for recovery will be recycled unless the customer chooses to keep their original storage device. If the customer elects to retain the original storage device, they waive the standard $50 discount that is otherwise applied when the recovered storage device is returned for recycling.
The Customer accepts this risk.

11. Third-Party Software
The Company is not responsible for:
* software licensing
* activation problems
* subscription services
* cloud accounts
* third-party account access
* software incompatibilities
* discontinued software
The Customer is responsible for maintaining valid licenses.

12. Customer-Supplied Parts
The Company is not responsible for failures caused by customer-supplied parts.
No warranty is provided on customer-supplied components unless otherwise stated in writing.
Installation labor is non-refundable.

13. Limited Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Company’s liability for any claim relating to services performed shall be limited to the amount actually paid by the Customer for the specific repair.
The Company shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to:
* loss of income
* loss of business
* loss of profits
* loss of productivity
* loss of contracts
* loss of data
* downtime
* replacement equipment
* emotional distress

14. Warranty Limitations
Warranty coverage applies only to repairs specifically identified on the invoice.
Warranty does not cover:
* accidental damage
* liquid damage
* physical abuse
* electrical surges
* viruses
* malware
* customer modifications
* unauthorized repairs
* software issues unrelated to the original repair
* normal wear and tear

15. Abandoned Property
Devices left unpaid or unclaimed for more than thirty (30) days after notification that service is complete may be considered abandoned, subject to applicable California law.
The Company may assess storage fees and may dispose of abandoned property in accordance with applicable law.
Property left 10 days or longer after completion date will receive an additional $1 per day storage fee, after 30 days from work being completed the time will be recycled and destroyed unless a written arrangement is established.

16. Force Majeure
The Company shall not be liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond its reasonable control, including power outages, natural disasters, internet outages, manufacturer delays, supply chain disruptions, or other unforeseen events.

17. Customer Acceptance
By authorizing service electronically, verbally, or in writing, the Customer acknowledges that:
* They have read these Terms and Conditions.
* They understand the risks associated with computer repair.
* They understand that data loss is always possible.
* They have been advised to maintain backups.
* They authorize the Company to perform the requested services.
* They release the Company, its owners, employees, and contractors from liability except in cases of gross negligence or willful misconduct as permitted by applicable law.
